1. What Web Design Quotes does
Web Design Quotes is a quote and introduction service. You describe a website or software project once, with your budget and contact details, and we help connect you with professional web designers and developers who can take the work on.
We are not the designer, developer or agency carrying out your project. Once a supplier contacts you, any agreement for the work — its price, scope, timetable, ownership and payment — is between you and that supplier. We are not a party to that agreement, we do not control the quality or outcome of the work, and we do not guarantee that a particular business will be available, will quote, or will win your project. We do review and approve suppliers before they can take on work, but that approval is not a warranty of any particular result. Please satisfy yourself before you commit.
2. Your account
Some parts of the service need an account. You must give accurate information, keep your sign-in details confidential, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has used them. You are responsible for activity carried out under your account. You can ask us to close it at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used to abuse the service, or that we reasonably believe puts you, another user or us at risk.
3. Enquiries from business owners
Asking for a quote is free and carries no obligation to proceed with anyone. Enquiries must be genuine, accurate and lawful, and you must have the right to share the details you send — including the contact details of anyone else you mention. Please do not submit someone else's business enquiry without their knowledge.
Because an enquiry is passed to suppliers, we tell you before you submit that your contact details may be shared with up to three approved businesses who take on your enquiry. We may decline, close or stop circulating an enquiry — for example if it is duplicate, unclear, unlawful, abusive, or not something our suppliers can help with — and we will tell you where we reasonably can.
Prices shown anywhere on the site are indicative UK starting budgets in GBP, introduced with "from" wording. They are not fixed packages, and scope, VAT, domains and paid tools are confirmed in a written quote from the business you choose to work with.
4. Suppliers and buying access to an enquiry
Companies who want to take on work must apply, be approved by us, and follow these terms. Approved suppliers may be offered enquiries; each enquiry can be offered to a limited number of suppliers at any one time, and a supplier only sees a client's contact details after paying for that enquiry.
Lead prices are set per enquiry by its stated budget: £10, £20 or £35, and no more than three suppliers can buy a single enquiry. A purchase pays for access to that enquiry and the chance to pitch — it is not a guarantee of winning the work, and it is not refundable simply because the client does not reply or chooses another supplier. We may withdraw an offer before it is bought, and we may refund a purchase where we decide the enquiry should not have been available — for example a duplicate, an invalid enquiry, or one that was closed before purchase. Refunds are made back to the original payment method.
Client contact details are given to you so you can respond to that enquiry and offer your services for that project. You must keep them secure, use them only for that purpose, not sell, share or transfer them to anyone else, not use them for unrelated marketing lists, and delete them when the enquiry is closed. You must contact clients lawfully and honestly, follow the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and UK data protection law, tell the client who you are and how you obtained their details, and be ready to stop contacting them if they ask. You are responsible for your own dealings with a client, including any tax and any agreement you make. We can remove access, suspend or remove a supplier who misuses enquiries, and we may tell the client if a supplier behaves badly.
5. Payments
Supplier purchases are taken online through our payment provider, in GBP. Card details are handled by that provider and we keep a payment reference and receipt rather than your card data. Prices may change; the price shown at the moment of purchase is the price charged. Where an invoice for completed work is raised, it is between the client and the supplier: the invoice records shown in the client portal are entered by us from the agreement you reach, and payment of them is a matter for you and the other party.
6. Your content and ours
You keep ownership of the project details, descriptions and images you submit. By submitting them you give us permission to store, display, reproduce and share them for the purpose of running the service — showing a supplier your brief, listing a supplier's approved examples, and keeping a record of the enquiry. You confirm you have the right to submit what you send us, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
The site itself — its branding, layout, text and code — belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, resell or systematically extract content or enquiry data from the service, or use it to train a competing directory, without our written permission.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use the service to send unlawful, harmful, defamatory, discriminatory or deceptive material; to impersonate anyone; to submit false or test enquiries; to harass or repeatedly contact another user; to interfere with the site, its security or its normal use; or to attempt to access another user's information beyond what you are entitled to see. Automated access that overloads the service, or attempts to unlock contact details without paying, is prohibited.
8. Third parties and availability
The service depends on providers we do not control, including hosting, payment processing and sign-in providers, and it may be paused or changed for maintenance, capacity or safety. Where the site links to another website, we are not responsible for that website's content or terms.
9. Liability
We aim to run the service carefully and keep it available, but we do not accept liability for losses that arise from your dealings with a supplier, from a project's cost, delay or outcome, or from business decisions you make using information from the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — for example death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Suppliers remain fully responsible to their clients for the work they agree to carry out.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops. The date at the top of this page shows the current version. Using the service after a change means the updated terms apply; if a change materially affects you, we will try to tell you in advance through the contact details we hold.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and England and Wales, and the courts of those jurisdictions have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you have a question about these terms, or need to report a problem with a supplier or an enquiry, use the enquiry form and we will come back to you.
